Networking Event by bidx Kenya

On the 11th of November, bidx Kenya organised a one-day event for its customers and business partners to share their experience and discuss the future of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the county.

Jeremie Muna – bidx Account Director – launched the event by speaking about the company’s vision and its goal to build a community of investors, mentors and entrepreneurs through its flagship product, bidx Portals.

Two main bidx customers in Kenya, were invited to speak about their efforts to develop the startup ecosystem in the country, and share the lessons their learnt while using bidx products in order to achieve that. Ruth Kariuki, DGTOL Africa’s Marketing Director, introduced her company’s mission to helping young Kenyan entrepreneurs in Kenya by providing them with mentorship and advices. Ruth herself, is having an account on DGTOL’s portal and provides business advices to the young entrepreneurs there. The Youth Banner is also a bidx customer, and it was represented by its CEO, Wamuyu Mahinda (@wamuyumahinda), in the event. The Youth Banner focuses on empowering young entrepreneurs to use technology in their business. Wamuyu highlighted the kinds of trainings they provide, then she spoke about how they help entrepreneurs work on developing better business plans. She also urged the the Kenyan government to focus more on empowering young entrepreneurs through new technologies.

Katchy Kollections' mission is to help communities rise above poverty through economic empowerment and employment while at the same time create, manufacture and produce unique authentic designs influenced by vast Kenyan cultures.

The picture is never complete without listening to the entrepreneurs as well. Those who have their business on one hand, and a have their experience with bidx portals on the other hand. Yvonne Kaleche, together withAnthony Muli, create trendy bags, among other products inspired by traditional craftsmanship skills, via Anthony’s Kenyan startup, Katchy Kollections. The event was a good opportunity to know more about their business, how bidx Portals helped them develop their business plan further, and their vision to grow their business more. Their goal is to reach 40 employees, mainly from low income communities whom they want to give a hand and develop. They also make use of bidx Portals to find investors who can support them to grow their business, and enable them to help the community more.

Roni Karina (@ronikarina) from The Gastranome attended the event, while Martin Kairu – I performance Managing Director – gave a speech about his company, and how it helps organizations increase their employee’s engagement.

In the end, bidx managing director, Leslie Abell, gave the final speech. Seeing how investors and entrepreneurs interact on bidx Portals, Leslie highlighted what investors look for in businesses. He also spoke about bidx future plans to provide investors and mentors will applications for easily finding and evaluating the thousands of business proposals currently published on bidx Portals
